Xavi Simons’ future is moving again in the market, but Barcelona have already made their position very clear. Despite fresh rumours linking the Dutch attacker with a possible return to Camp Nou, Barça are not planning to bring him back. Recent reporting says the club have ruled out a move because of a mix of sporting priorities, financial limits and the message such a deal would send after Simons left La Masia in 2019.
That is what makes the decision so striking. On talent alone, Simons would be an easy name to discuss at Barcelona. He remains a high-level attacking midfielder with quality, versatility and major upside. But inside the club, the current view is that he simply does not fit the roadmap for this summer.

A strategic decision from Barça
The sporting department have been studying different scenarios for the next transfer window, and in that process they have chosen to prioritise other operations. Xavi Simons’ return does not fit into that planning right now. The club’s focus is said to be elsewhere, especially on strengthening centre-back and centre-forward, while other attacking decisions, including the future of Marcus Rashford, are also taking precedence.
There is also an economic factor that carries a lot of weight. The latest reporting says a deal for Simons would cost around €45 million, a figure Barcelona are not prepared to commit in the current context. For a club still trying to measure every major investment carefully, that alone becomes a powerful reason to step away.
The market will move, but without Barça
Xavi Simons will still be one of the most attractive names in the European market. His talent and profile make him a player many clubs would gladly study if the right opportunity appears. But according to the most recent reporting, Barcelona will not be part of that race.
So the picture is now quite simple. The rumours may continue, and his past at La Masia will always keep the story alive emotionally, but the sporting decision at Barça is already taken. The club do not see Xavi Simons as a priority, and they are not planning a return to Camp Nou.
