Junior Kroupi has strongly entered the list of strikers followed by FC Barcelona. The young Bournemouth attacker appears as an alternative if Julián Álvarez becomes impossible. He is not the first option, but his name is gaining weight.
Barça know Julián Álvarez remains the main target to strengthen the attack. Deco and Hansi Flick see him as the ideal profile for the team. However, Atlético Madrid will not make it easy, and the figures could break everything.
Kroupi appears as plan B
The Barça sporting department have been closely following Kroupi’s development for some time. His explosion in the Premier League confirmed many signs already shown at Lorient. He is quick, mobile, technical and appears naturally in scoring positions.
The striker is only 19 years old, but already shows personality in a demanding context. His season in England has attracted attention from several major European clubs. Barça see him as a future bet that may need to arrive earlier.
The initial idea was to keep watching him with patience and calm. But the striker market is so blocked that Barça may have to accelerate. If Julián moves away, Kroupi could become a much more serious alternative.
The price scares Barça
The big problem is the cost of an operation that would not be cheap. Bournemouth do not want to sell one of their biggest jewels after his impact. The English club have reportedly warned they will not listen to low offers.
The starting point could move close to €100 million, according to reports. Barça, however, believe his real valuation should be closer to €70 million. That difference makes any negotiation extremely complicated for Deco and his team.
The blaugrana club could try to lower the fee by including players. Bournemouth would reportedly value profiles from Barça if talks eventually move forward. Even so, there are no firm steps or formal offensive for now.
PSG and Arsenal are also watching
Barça are not alone in this race, and that also creates concern. PSG, Arsenal and other English clubs are monitoring Kroupi’s situation closely. If the striker leaves this summer, competition could push his price higher.
PSG could move if Bradley Barcola ends up leaving during the market. Arsenal also want young, vertical attackers ready to compete for many years. That context forces Barça to decide whether to wait or move first.
Kroupi has never hidden a certain sympathy for Barça, which could help emotionally. But he does not seem ready to force an exit from Bournemouth aggressively. The player knows this market could shape the biggest step of his career.
Julián still sets the path
Barça will wait for Julián Álvarez before fully activating other attacking alternatives. The internal belief is that the Argentine wants Barça if a real route appears. But Atlético will demand huge money and protect one of their biggest references.
If that operation collapses, the club will need to react quickly in attack. There, Kroupi could gain strength, although his signing carries obvious risk. Investing so much in a 19-year-old requires certainty Barça still do not have.
The summer will decide whether Kroupi remains monitored or becomes an immediate opportunity. Barça want him for the future, but the market could push him forward. The twist is clear: if Julián does not arrive, Barça’s risky plan already has a name: Junior Kroupi.
Caution note: At the time of writing, there is no official agreement between Barça, Bournemouth and Junior Kroupi.
