According to reports this weekend from Gerard Romero, Mundo Deportivo and Diario Sport, Chelsea cooled down their pursuit of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. The Blues offered £15m plus Marcos Alonso in exchange for Aubameyang. But Barcelona rejected that offer since they want straight cash.

According to recent rumors, the Catalan club asking for upwards of €25m. However, Chelsea have no intention of paying more than €17.5m.
Barcelona’s first priority is to free up the wage bill in order to register Jules Koundé. Meanwhile they are still interested in Alonso. But he is not the utmost priority right now either. In fact, Barca already started looking at alternatives in case their move for Alonso falls through.

There is still optimism that a deal will get done eventually. Barcelona are in desperate need of cash, and more talks are set to take place between the clubs as well as the agents in the coming days. According to Fabrizio Romano, Aubameyang is happy with the terms of the contract Chelsea offered him.

We are entering the last days of the summer transfer window. Still a lot of operations to finish in the coming days. It will be interesting to see if Barcelona and Chelsea can eventually agree on a fee for Aubameyang.
