Barcelona have already started moving pieces to build next season’s squad. One of the most delicate files remains Marcus Rashford, whose future is still completely open. Inside the club, they know it will not be easy to keep the Englishman much longer.
The main reason is not only the price of the operation or the forward’s salary. The interest still being shown by Unai Emery to take him to Aston Villa also weighs heavily. The Basque coach knows the player well and is ready to push strongly for him.
Barça have already made moves to study whether there is any formula to keep Rashford. The underlying idea is not to pay the €30 million purchase option exactly as it stands. The club would prefer to explore a more favourable route, either through another loan or a different structure.
Emery has not forgotten Rashford
Inside the talks Barça are holding with different parties, one thing is quite clear. Unai Emery remains very interested in signing the English attacker this summer. At Camp Nou, they know perfectly well that the Aston Villa coach wants him.
This is not superficial interest or a distant possibility in the Premier League market. Rashford already spent half a season under Emery and left very good impressions. That is why the coach believes he can still get much more from him competitively.
The problem for Aston Villa is that the player himself has a very different idea. Rashford’s intention is still to maximise every option to continue at the Spotify Camp Nou. He wants to stay, either through a transfer or another loan.
Rashford wants to stay at Barça
The English winger believes he has done enough to continue for another season. His numbers reinforce that feeling both inside and outside the Barça dressing room. With 14 goals and 12 assists, he has had real impact on the team’s attacking production.
Barça value his contribution, although there are still doubts about some parts of his tactical fit. The debate is not only about his level, but also the economic structure of the operation. That is where the major summer blockage appears again for the sporting department.
From England, it has also been suggested that Manchester United do not want another loan. That makes any Barça attempt to gain time without buying him much more complicated. At the same time, it opens the door for clubs like Aston Villa to enter more strongly.
Barça know there will be a fight
The conclusion inside Camp Nou is becoming quite clear with this scenario on the table. Rashford wants to stay, but Aston Villa are pushing hard and Unai Emery is not giving up. If Barça want to keep the Englishman, they will have to move seriously and do it soon.
Caution note: this situation is based on reported interest and transfer planning, not an official agreement between Barcelona, Aston Villa or Manchester United.
