Marc Casadó already knows that his role at Barcelona has dropped significantly this season. The academy midfielder is expected to study proposals once the campaign is completely over. Inside the club, the debate is now between a useful loan or a sale that creates immediate financial margin.
Casadó, who is 22 years old, has a contract until 2028, so Barcelona are not forced to rush. However, his lack of minutes has changed the picture around his future. Several midfielders are now ahead of him, and that has opened the door to a possible summer move.
The situation is especially sensitive because Casadó still has a strong market outside Spain. His age, profile and Barça background make him attractive for different leagues. That is why the club know this could become one of the most active files of the summer.
Saudi Arabia leads the pressure
The strongest route right now appears to come from Saudi Arabia, where several powerful clubs are already moving. Al Ahli and Al Nassr are among the sides most interested in signing him this summer. Al Hilal are also watching closely, especially because of the connection with João Cancelo.
That Saudi interest is also linked to Jorge Mendes, who has major influence in that market. Recent reports suggest Mendes sees Casadó as an attractive opportunity for several Saudi clubs. His name could even appear in a mixed formula to reduce the final cost of Cancelo.
That possibility adds tension to an already delicate case inside Barcelona’s sporting department. Al Hilal, Cancelo’s current club, could accept money plus a player in a serious negotiation. For now, though, Barça are not especially excited by that route.
Premier League and Serie A are also watching
Saudi Arabia is not the only market following Casadó ahead of the summer. There is also interest from the Premier League and Serie A, according to recent information. Chelsea had already made previous enquiries, and Atlético Madrid have also been mentioned again.
That external interest puts Barcelona in a position where they must decide carefully. A loan could help Casadó recover minutes, confidence and market value next season. A sale, however, could immediately help the club with Financial Fair Play and summer planning.
This is why his case is becoming more important in the Camp Nou offices. Casadó is not a forgotten player, but his path in the first team has become complicated. If the midfield remains crowded, a departure could become the most logical solution.
Barcelona face a difficult decision
The conclusion inside the club is starting to become quite clear. Casadó is playing less, Mendes is moving the market and several important clubs are waiting. The summer could decide whether he stays, leaves on loan or becomes a significant sale.
Barcelona will have to balance sporting logic with their financial needs once again. Flick may value Casadó’s discipline and academy profile, but the squad has too many midfield options. That could push the midfielder closer to the exit than expected.
If nothing changes soon, his future may end up far away from Barça. Saudi Arabia currently appears to be pushing hardest, with Al Ahli, Al Nassr and Al Hilal all involved. But England, Italy and Atlético are also keeping the door open.
