The transfer market is starting to move, and Barcelona are already seeing interest grow around Ferran Torres. One of the clubs following his situation most closely is Atlético de Madrid, who are said to value the Valencia-born forward highly because of his versatility and the way he can adapt to different attacking roles. Ferran’s current Barça contract still runs until 30 June 2027, so the club are not under immediate pressure, but the lack of movement on a renewal is beginning to attract attention.
That is what makes the situation more interesting. On paper, Barça still have control, but they have not accelerated any contract extension, even as Ferran’s importance in the squad has grown. Recent reporting suggests that Barcelona do not currently feel any urgency to improve his deal, largely because they believe his salary already matches his present place in the team.

Barça are not making a move despite the outside interest
Inside the club, there is no real sense of alarm around Ferran’s case at the moment. Barcelona’s current position is that his contractual situation is manageable and that other areas of the summer plan are more urgent. That means there is no immediate push to offer him better terms, even though his recent performances have strengthened his value.
That stance is a little surprising when viewed against his recent evolution. Ferran has shown that he can be a reliable attacking option, bringing movement, goals and tactical flexibility across the front line. But for now, that progress has not been enough to change the roadmap set by the club.
Barcelona are also still prioritising other strategic files, including possible sales, attacking restructuring and decisions around bigger squad roles for next season. That leaves Ferran’s contract issue in the background, at least for now. Reports from today even suggest Barça may be open to a summer sale rather than a renewal if the right market opportunity appears.
Why Ferran fits Atlético so well
From Atlético’s point of view, Ferran is an easy profile to understand. He offers versatility, intensity, mobility and the ability to work without the ball, all qualities that fit naturally with the kind of attacking player Diego Simeone usually values.
Atlético are looking at attacking reinforcements who can combine effort with end product, and Ferran fits that description well. That does not mean the deal is advanced, but it does explain why his name is starting to gain traction around the Madrid club. This fit with Simeone is an inference based on Ferran’s profile and the reported Atlético interest.
Everything now depends on a decision Barça still have not taken
The next phase of the story will depend largely on whether Barcelona change their position in the coming months. If the club continue with the idea of not improving his contract, the picture could shift quickly, especially if Atlético’s interest turns into something more concrete.
For now, Ferran remains focused on the season and there is no indication that he is trying to force a way out. But the market does not wait, and the movement around him has already started. If nothing changes in the offices, this could become a much hotter case than many expected by the time summer arrives.
