Víctor Muñoz would be open to joining FC Barcelona and believes the move could benefit his career enormously. The winger sees Camp Nou as an ideal environment to keep developing and take the next step. However, his desire is not enough, because Real Madrid hold almost total control over the operation.
The Madrid club still owns 50% of his rights and also has several mechanisms to stop any move to Barcelona. On top of that, Real Madrid have a buy-back option over the next three summers for already agreed fees. Those figures would be €8 million, €9 million and €10 million, creating a structure that completely conditions his immediate future.
Madrid can block the deal at any moment
The key lies in the agreement signed between Osasuna and Real Madrid. If the Navarrese club receives a formal offer for the player, it must inform Madrid. And if the interested club is Barça, Madrid would automatically activate the buy-back clause.
That move could happen even if the player is not part of Madrid’s sporting plans. The main objective would be clear: prevent a talent they still control from strengthening their biggest rival. After that, Madrid could decide whether to keep him or sell him elsewhere.
This leaves Barça in a very uncomfortable position. The club have followed Víctor Muñoz, but they already knew the signing would be extremely difficult. It is not just about convincing the player, but about escaping a near-perfect contractual trap.
Deco knows the path is almost closed
Inside Barça, there is recognition that the winger has interesting qualities. He is young, has room to grow, and fits a position where several alternatives are being studied. However, the structure of the deal makes him far less attractive than cleaner options.
Deco does not want to waste time on operations where another club controls every key step. That becomes even more important in a summer shaped by Financial Fair Play and Flick’s priorities. The coach wants more leadership, more experience, and fewer complicated bets.
That is why Víctor Muñoz is losing strength inside the offices. Not because he lacks quality or because he would reject Barça. He loses ground because Madrid can kill the deal before it even truly begins.
Barça look elsewhere for the left wing
The left wing will still be an important file for Barça this summer. If the Rashford option collapses definitively, the club will need another player who truly fits the project. But they also want to avoid deals poisoned by clauses, buy-backs and rival interference.
That is why Víctor Muñoz remains interesting, but no longer feels like a realistic path. The player may want Barça, but that does not bring him much closer to Camp Nou right now.
As long as Real Madrid maintain that level of control, his signing will be almost impossible for the Blaugrana club.
