Robert Lewandowski’s future is once again shaking FC Barcelona, and this time the information is especially strong. According to Guillem Balagué, the Polish striker will leave the club at the end of the current season. That report fits with a context that has become increasingly tense around his renewal and his role under Hansi Flick.
Inside the club, there had already been a feeling for weeks that his continuity was far from guaranteed. Barça have offered him a one-year renewal, but with a reduced salary. That new deal would also mean accepting a more secondary role in Flick’s project.
That is exactly where the biggest problem appears. Lewandowski is used to being the main reference in attack, and he wants clarity over his sporting importance before making a final decision. Right now, everything suggests Barça are already preparing to reinforce the number nine position this summer.
Barça offer him continuity, but not as untouchable
The situation is not only about money, although that factor clearly matters. Barça want to keep him, but under very different conditions compared to previous seasons. He would no longer be the untouchable striker or one of the main salary references in the dressing room.
That change of status does not fully convince a player who still feels capable of competing at the highest level. His camp continues to listen to offers as the market begins to move seriously. The goodbye no longer feels distant — it is becoming a very real possibility.
The transfer noise around Barça only reinforces that feeling. Names like Julián Álvarez have already been linked as potential leaders of the next attacking project. That makes it clear that the sporting department is working on scenarios where Lewandowski does not continue.
Italy appears as the most serious exit route
Right now, Serie A looks like the strongest possible destination for Lewandowski. Juventus and Milan have both been linked with his future in recent reports. The Italian option offers something he still values highly: the chance to keep competing in a major European league.
There have also been proposals from Saudi Arabia and MLS, as previously reported. However, those routes seem less attractive for a striker who still has major competitive ambition. Lewandowski wants top-level football before making the final big move of his career.
For now, there is no official Barça statement confirming his departure. That means the information should be treated as a very strong revelation, but not yet a club-confirmed decision. Still, if Balagué’s version is confirmed, Barça will lose one of the biggest names in their squad.
The end of an era feels closer than ever
The conclusion around Barça is becoming increasingly clear. The club would accept his continuity, but only under new conditions, and the player does not seem fully convinced by that scenario. Reduced salary, less prominence and outside interest create a completely different landscape.
This is not just another summer rumour. If Lewandowski leaves, Barça will be forced to accelerate the search for a top-level replacement. And unless there is a major twist, the Polish striker’s farewell now feels closer than ever.
