Barcelona are once again looking at the Premier League to strengthen next season’s attack. One of the names gaining the most strength is Gabriel Martinelli, the Arsenal winger. Inside the Catalan club, he is liked for his profile, age and fit with what Hansi Flick wants.
The sporting department want a player capable of breaking games from the left wing with speed. They also want more dribbling, more aggression without the ball and more ways to attack space. That is where Martinelli fits quite well because of his qualities and experience.
His contract situation also leaves an interesting reading ahead of the summer market. The Brazilian is 24 years old, has a contract with Arsenal until June 2027 and an option for another season. That gives the English club strength, but also places the player in a highly watched zone.
A profile that fits Flick
Inside Barça, they especially value that Martinelli is not only a winger for isolated moments. He can play wide, attack the box, sustain high pressing and punish opponents with rhythm. That type of footballer fits a team that wants constant intensity and more outside threat.
His name does not appear by chance on the club’s summer agenda. The sporting department have been monitoring young, vertical wingers used to competing at the top. The Brazilian responds well to that mix of immediate performance and competitive growth.
Barça also like the fact that he already knows the demands of a physical, fast and tactical league. That reduces adaptation risks if he decides to change competitive context. For a club that cannot afford many market mistakes, that detail matters a lot.
Arsenal will not give him away
The big problem for Barça is once again the price and Arsenal’s negotiating position. Transfermarkt currently values Martinelli at €45 million. But Arsenal have no real urgency to sell a player with a long contract.
That means Barça would have to go higher if they wanted to open a serious negotiation. A deal in the €55 million to €60 million range looks more realistic today than one close to €45 million. That is not an official Arsenal figure, but a logical estimate based on contract and context.
That is where Barcelona must decide whether the move is really worth it this summer. The club remain conditioned by Financial Fair Play and must choose their investments very carefully. A signing like this would only make sense after sales and salary margin are created.
Attractive, expensive and difficult
The conclusion in the market is quite clear with Martinelli’s case on the table. The Arsenal winger is liked a lot because of his rhythm, intensity and fit for Flick’s system. But his contract, value and importance in London make the deal far from easy.
Right now, Barça see him as an attractive and powerful possibility for the left wing. However, turning that interest into a real signing would demand a lot of money and margin. That is why Gabriel Martinelli is a serious option, but also one of the most complex.
Caution note: this situation is based on reported market interest and estimated figures, not an official negotiation between Barcelona and Arsenal.
