FC Barcelona have one of the most decisive files of the summer open. After Robert Lewandowski’s official exit at the end of the season, the club must decide who should lead the new attacking era. Deco has already admitted that replacing the Polish striker will be a key and especially difficult decision.
Inside the club, they are not working with just one route. The sporting department are handling different profiles to solve a position that will define much of Hansi Flick’s next cycle. Among the names gaining most strength are Harry Kane, João Pedro and Julián Álvarez.
Harry Kane, the hardest move
On paper, Harry Kane represents the most complex option. He remains one of the most reliable strikers in European football, but his current situation at Bayern Munich makes any Barça attempt extremely difficult. The Englishman has a contract until 2027 and has recently made clear that he is happy in Munich.
That does not mean his name does not seduce Camp Nou. He would bring immediate goals, experience and competitive leadership from day one. But between his weight at Bayern, his salary and the economic difficulty of the operation, Barça know this would only make sense through a very specific market opportunity.

João Pedro convinces Deco
The João Pedro route looks more workable from a negotiation standpoint, although it is still far from simple. Cadena SER already explained in late April that the Brazilian forward is part of Barça’s plans if the Julián Álvarez route does not move forward. Inside the club, he is liked for his mobility, ability to play inside or wide, and fit in Flick’s system.
The problem is Chelsea. The English club signed him recently and, according to the latest reports, do not see an easy sale. Barça Blaugranes has also reported that the message from London has been firm after Barça’s first exploratory movements. João Pedro convinces, but his exit remains very complicated in the short term.
Julián Álvarez, the great dream
If one name still creates more excitement than any other inside the sporting department, it is Julián Álvarez. Cadena SER keeps him among Barça’s major options for the attack, although the club do not want to enter a wild auction for him. His fit is loved because of his pressing, mobility, aggression without the ball and ability to play in different attacking roles.
The great wall remains Atlético Madrid. The club officially signed him in 2024 with a contract until 2030, giving them a very strong position in any negotiation. Competition from clubs such as PSG makes an already difficult operation even harder for Barça’s finances.

Deco cannot get it wrong
Barça know Lewandowski’s heir will define a huge part of the next project. This is not only about signing a goalscorer, but choosing a striker capable of carrying pressure, hierarchy and competitive weight in big matches. That is why Deco is working on several files at once instead of depending on one impossible operation.
The conclusion at Camp Nou is quite clear. Kane would bring immediate experience, João Pedro represents a very attractive projection option, and Julián Álvarez remains the great dream. All three are liked, but right now the Argentine continues to be the name that creates the most excitement inside Barça.
Caution note: this situation is based on reported market planning and current attacking priorities, not official negotiations completed by Barcelona.
