Marc-Andre Ter Stegen’s unbeaten streak in La Liga was broken a little over a week ago. It was at the Santiago Bernabéu, and it left his record with a clean sheet in 636 minutes. Therefore falling just over 100 minutes short of the 755 recorded by Claudio Bravo in the 2014/15 season. But with the last two games without conceding against Villarreal (3-0) last Thursday and this Sunday against Athletic (4-0) he beat a historical record in LaLiga.
As ‘Mister Chip’ reports, the German goalkeeper is the first in the entire history of LaLiga to keep his goal unbeaten in 9 of the first 11 rounds of the championship.
So far, Ter Stegen conceded only 4 goals: Isak on the second round against Real Sociedad (1-4) and Benzema, Valverde and Rodrygo in the Clásico played at the Bernabéu (3-1) in the ninth round. The German is currently the great candidate to win the Zamora Trophy, which he never achieved in his previous eight seasons as a Barça player.
Last night he extended a little more his advantage over Rulli (Villarreal) who conceded his seventh goal in the league against Almería.
With his great performances, Ter Stegen is decisive in Barça’s great league start. Barça has one draw and a defeat. Moreover, it looks like he has recovered his great level of a few seasons ago. He kept a clean sheet against Rayo Vallecano (0-0), Valladolid (4-0), Sevilla (0-3), Cádiz (0-4), Elche (3-0), Mallorca (0-1), Celta (1-0), Villarreal (3-0) and Athletic (4-0).
