A quick turn around yet again, this time, in La Liga. It’s another key game in the league as we near the end of the league campaign. Every point is crucial. And tonight we face, yet another tricky sort of game. Although on paper and as we look over at the league table, they’re not in the best of places. That doesn’t mean they should just be written off. Of course, I’m talking about our next opponent in the league, Leganes. Live later tonight, away from home at 9pm local time.
It’s going to be a tough away game against a team, that is fighting for survival in the league. So lets jump straight into the preview:
A Quick Look at our opponent:
As I’ve mentioned before, Leganes are a team fighting for their survival in La liga for next season. It isn’t going to be one of those games where its nearing the end of the season and its only one team fighting for something. Bot teams tonight, Barça and Leganes have massive things to fight for this season respectively. Which just makes this a very intense and tricky game to navigate.
Over the course of the season, they’ve scored a total of 29 goals and have conceded almost double that number. When compared to Barça, we have conceded the same amount of goals that Leganes have scored and are by far and away the highest cores in the league, and across all European leagues with 83 goals to our name.
Like i said, on paper, it only tells one story. But when a team like Leganes has so much to fight for, its one of those games that you can’t underestimate at all. Which is why, ahead of another packed week of football, it’ll be interesting to see how much rotation will be made for tonight’s game.
Predicted lineup:
Flick already alluded to it in his pre match press conference yesterday afternoon, but rotations are expected for our trip away to Leganes. How many? Well, that’s a question only he can answer. But me personally, i cant imagine there being too many drastic changes.
For me, in an ideal world, id be looking at giving Pedri and Yamal a rest, even Kounde too. But I’m also aware that we cant afford to rest too many either. In midfield, Gavi should come back in and to be honest, we could give Pedri a break, playing Gavi deeper alongside Frenkie. With Fermin once again at number 10.
In defence, I’d imagine Araujo will get the nod to start. It’s amazing the depth we have at centre back where we can rotate and bring in a defender like Araujo. He’ll partner Cubarsi. And i would look at starting fort too in place of Kounde. If that turns out to be the case, and Pedri and Kounde are rested, then that would mean Yamal would start, in my eyes. But, we could easily rest him too.
So many possibilities, but ahead of yet another massive European week, its important we get the balance right with rotations. So lets wait and see what Flick will decide to do.
My starting lineup:
Tek
Fort- Araujo- Cubarsi- Balde
Gavi- Frenkie
Yamal- Fermin- Raphinha
Lewandowski
