Marc Casadó is again in a very delicate file inside FC Barcelona. The midfielder has several suitors, but now a much more unexpected destination appears. Al Hilal have reportedly shown interest, opening a route linked directly to João Cancelo.
Barça have not closed any exit, although they know Casadó needs important minutes. The midfield competition has reduced his space and affects his immediate sporting growth. That is why the club are listening to scenarios that could benefit everyone.
Saudi Arabia enter a very sensitive operation
The appearance of Al Hilal changes a case that seemed mainly Spanish. Until now, clubs like Betis, Deportivo or Racing had been linked. However, Saudi Arabia can offer financial conditions almost impossible to match domestically.
The Saudi club also have a key element in this story: João Cancelo. Barça want to find a formula to keep the Portuguese full-back in the project. In that context, Casadó could become useful inside a wider negotiation.
The operation would not be simple because the player prefers staying in Europe. Casadó knows he needs continuity, but also a competitive stage for development. Saudi Arabia offers money, although not always the pathway a young academy player wants.
Betis remain a very attractive route
Real Betis continue to appear as a very interesting sporting alternative for Casadó. The Andalusian side can offer minutes, associative football and a competitive environment. European competition would also increase the project’s appeal for the Barça midfielder.
For Casadó, Betis represents a less drastic and more natural exit. He would stay in LaLiga, keep visibility and play in a suitable model. That option looks more coherent sportingly, although less powerful financially than Saudi Arabia.
The problem is Betis’ real capacity to reach Barça’s asking price. The blaugrana club have reportedly valued him at around €25 million. That figure forces creative formulas, variables or percentages from a future sale.
Barça think about money and planning
Casadó’s situation has a sporting reading, but also a clear financial one. As an academy player, any transfer would leave major profit in Barça’s accounts. That reality makes his possible exit a useful tool for Deco this summer.
Hansi Flick has many midfielders and cannot guarantee minutes to everyone. Casadó competes with heavier, more experienced profiles inside the current squad. Without continuity, his growth could be blocked at a very important stage.
Barça must decide between a permanent sale or keeping some future control. A loan would protect the player, but not solve the same financial needs. A transfer would give immediate margin, but cost another La Masia piece.
Casadó will choose between money and career
The final destination will depend heavily on the player’s own will. Casadó wants importance, not a project where he is only financial business. His priority will be playing, growing and recovering the prominence he lacks in Barcelona.
Al Hilal can tempt him with money and a possible link to Cancelo’s case. Betis can seduce him with minutes, LaLiga and a much easier adaptation. Other Spanish or European clubs may also appear if Barça keep listening.
The summer places Barça before an uncomfortable but strategic decision once again. Casadó has value, market interest and a sporting situation inviting an exit. If Saudi Arabia push strongly, Barça may find an unexpected key to solving Cancelo’s future too.
Caution note: At the time of writing, there is no official agreement between Barça, Al Hilal, Betis and Marc Casadó.
