Laporta confirms the club’s offer is already on the table, while Atlético Madrid make their position on the Argentine striker perfectly clear.
The Julián Álvarez transfer saga has taken another dramatic turn, increasing the tension between FC Barcelona and Atlético Madrid. Joan Laporta has publicly confirmed that Barça have already submitted an offer for the Argentine forward. However, he also made it clear that the club’s patience will not last forever.
Laporta confirms the offer and warns Atlético
Speaking about the negotiations, Laporta explained that Barcelona have already taken the step they believed was necessary. According to the club president, the next move now belongs entirely to Atlético Madrid. At the same time, he warned that the Blaugrana will not wait indefinitely.
“We have submitted an offer, and now the decision is in Atlético’s hands. The player has said he wants to leave, but our offer will not remain on the table forever.”
Laporta also confirmed that Julián Álvarez is the top attacking target for both Hansi Flick and Deco. Even so, he admitted that the sporting department is already working on alternative options if the operation ultimately collapses. Barça want to avoid losing valuable time in the transfer market.
Atlético Madrid stand firm
The response from Atlético Madrid came almost immediately through club president Enrique Cerezo. While praising Laporta personally, he delivered a firm message regarding the future of the Argentine international. His words left little room for speculation.
“Laporta is a good friend and a great president. He knows very well where Julián is going to play. Julián is and will remain an Atlético player.”
With those comments, Atlético once again publicly rejected the possibility of selling their striker. The Madrid club continues to insist that Julián Álvarez is not available despite growing transfer speculation. For now, their position remains unchanged.
Barça prepare for every outcome
Although Julián Álvarez remains the club’s dream signing, Deco is already assessing other attacking profiles. Barcelona are determined to strengthen the squad while staying within Financial Fair Play regulations. That strategy ensures the club can react quickly if negotiations reach a dead end.
The twist is clear: Laporta has made Barça’s move, Atlético refuse to back down, and Julián Álvarez’s future has entered the most decisive stage of the transfer window.
Caution note: At the time of writing, there is no official agreement between FC Barcelona, Atlético Madrid, and Julián Álvarez, and the transfer has not been finalized or officially confirmed.
