The Reasons Behind the Desire of Kessie to Stay at FC Barcelona

Franck Kessie received a tempting offer from Arab football to play there next season, according to MD. However, the midfielder has no other option in mind than continuing as a player for FC Barcelona.

The Ivorian midfielder didn’t have the prominence and continuity he expected in his first season as a Blaugrana. However, Kessie believes that his best individual moments in Barcelona are yet to come. This belief is the primary reason why he is determined to stay and not consider an exit.

There are several factors behind the choice of Kessie. Firstly, a year ago, when he was a free agent, Xavi’s insistence on him joining Barcelona convinced Kessie to prioritize the Catalan club over other significant offers. Although the coach has communicated that Kessie won’t have the prominent role he desires, the player, after making the important personal decision last season, is not willing to give up a year later. Kessie believes that the first year is often the most challenging and has confidence that his second season will be better. The Ivorian midfielder is aware that he brings a different profile to the team and believes he can be valuable. This has already been demonstrated in the past season. 43 appearances and crucial moments such as his goal in the Clásico, which contributed to securing the league title for Barcelona.

The player will decide

The club acknowledges that Kessie has every right to continue and fulfill his contract, which expires in 2026. However, a potential departure cannot be ruled out, but it would solely depend on the player receiving a compelling economic and sporting proposal, such as from the Premier League or Bundesliga. Only then would Kessie reconsider the idea of staying in Barcelona.

In conclusion, despite the alluring offer from Arab football, Franck Kessie remains committed to FC Barcelona, driven by his belief that better days lie ahead. The club respects his decision, but the possibility of a departure exists if a substantial offer materializes from top-tier leagues. As the new season approaches, Kessie’s determination and talent could prove vital for Barcelona’s future success.
