Barça are already looking far beyond the Champions League setback. With LaLiga on track, the club’s sporting department is preparing a major summer rebuild. And Flick has made one thing very clear internally: this is not about minor tweaks.
He wants structural changes.
The coach believes the squad must evolve significantly to compete at the highest level in Europe. His system demands intensity, high pressing, and very specific player profiles in key areas.
Defense: the main priority
The first major demand from Flick is in defense. He wants a top-level center-back capable of playing in a high line with pace and composure.
Two names stand out strongly: Alessandro Bastoni and Micky van de Ven. Both fit the profile perfectly, offering ball progression, speed, and physical presence.
Barça’s defensive issues in big matches have raised serious concerns inside the club. Flick and Deco fully agree that this area needs a major upgrade.

Attack: a winger and a striker
In attack, the plan is equally clear. Flick wants a new left winger who better fits his tactical system.
Marcus Rashford has not fully convinced during his spell at the club. As a result, Barça are open to letting him leave this summer.
To replace him, the club is targeting younger profiles with potential and better tactical fit. Names like Yeremay Hernández, Alberto Moleiro, and Víctor Muñoz are being considered.
The third major target is a top striker. Flick wants real competition upfront and a player capable of making the difference in big European nights.
Options like Julián Álvarez or Harry Kane are on the table, although both deals would be extremely complex.

Four exits to reshape the squad
Alongside arrivals, Flick has also identified key departures to open space and free resources.
The first is Rashford, whose exit would clear room in attack. Another major case is Ronald Araújo, whose situation is generating internal doubts.
There is also growing uncertainty around Robert Lewandowski, whose role is increasingly questioned. Finally, Marc Casadó could leave to generate income and create space.
A summer defined by financial limits
All these moves depend heavily on Financial Fair Play. Barça must sell, reduce wages, and be extremely precise in the market.
This is not just a sporting rebuild. It is also a financial balancing act.
Flick has already outlined the roadmap. Now it is up to Deco and the board to execute it.
Note: This information is based on internal planning scenarios and market reports, not on official confirmations from the club.
