Jules Koundé remains one of the most reliable starters in Hansi Flick’s Barcelona right now. His consistency, versatility and experience keep him as a very important piece of the team. But inside the offices, the club already admit an uncomfortable possibility if a huge offer arrives.
The new information points to Barça listening to proposals for the Frenchman this summer. Not because they want to push him out immediately, but because they need money to strengthen other positions. After the European blow, Barça are prioritising signings in defence and attack to raise the level.
That is the key nuance that changes the reading of this story inside the club. Koundé is not on the forced exit list and is not an actively planned sale. But if an offer far above normal market level arrives, Barcelona would seriously consider his transfer.
Flick sees him as key
Inside the coaching staff, Flick still sees Koundé as one of the most reliable defenders. He can play as a full-back or centre-back and offer balance in major matches. That explains why his sporting situation has nothing to do with a rupture.
The problem appears when the accounts, Financial Fair Play and the summer market enter the picture. Barça know they need relevant sales to attack important operations in several key positions. A huge proposal for Koundé would immediately give the club much more room to move.
The Frenchman also keeps a very strong reputation outside Spain, especially in the Premier League. Several recent reports have already placed him as a name watched by important English clubs. That increases the feeling that a high offer could arrive in the coming weeks.
His value makes the case sensitive
On the market, Koundé remains one of the club’s most valuable defenders. Transfermarkt currently places his market value at €65 million. His contract now runs until 2030, which also strengthens Barça’s negotiating position.
That context means a sale would only make sense if the proposal is absolutely irresistible. The club do not want to weaken Flick, but they also cannot ignore a gigantic financial opportunity. Especially when they need to build a more competitive team to fight again in Europe.
The conclusion inside Camp Nou is becoming quite clear with everything on the table. Koundé remains an undisputed starter, but he no longer looks completely untouchable for the summer. If a brutal offer arrives from England, Barça will consider selling one of Flick’s fixed players.
