The academy player loses space in midfield, and his exit could greatly help Barça’s market.
Marc Casadó is going through one of his most delicate moments at FC Barcelona. The midfielder developed at La Masia has lost prominence inside Hansi Flick’s plans. His future now enters a decisive phase, with several clubs monitoring his situation.
Barça do not want to gift away an academy player contracted until 2028. However, sporting reality is starting to weigh more than the emotional link with the club. If a strong offer arrives, the sporting department are ready to study his exit seriously.
Flick reduces Casadó’s space
Flick wants a shorter, clearer squad with much more defined roles. In that plan, Casadó would struggle to find important minutes next season. The competition in midfield has completely changed his sporting scenario.
Barça have too many names for a midfield that only offers three real starting positions. Pedri, Gavi, De Jong, Bernal, Fermín and Dani Olmo condition every possible distribution. That accumulation leaves Casadó in an uncomfortable position, especially if he needs continuity.
The German coach values his work, intensity and commitment, but needs cold decisions. Casadó offers energy, pressing and discipline, although he is not a structural piece. That is why his exit is beginning to look like a sporting and economic solution.
Barça need a useful sale
Barça’s financial situation makes any Casadó operation an important file this summer. As a homegrown player, his sale would have a very positive accounting impact. A figure close to €25 million would help create margin for other moves.
Deco needs to organise the squad, free salary space and facilitate possible signings. Losing an academy player always hurts, but it can also unlock priorities. The club know the market often forces choices between feeling and planning.
A loan is not completely ruled out if no convincing offer appears. However, Barça prefer a formula that generates income and keeps future control. A transfer with variables or a future-sale percentage could gain significant strength.
The Premier League looks again at La Masia
Manchester United appear as one of the clubs attentive to Casadó’s future. The Premier League values young, intense players formed in demanding tactical environments. His profile fits teams seeking balance, aggression and clean build-up from midfield.
The English interest also confirms Casadó still has market value despite losing prominence. He is not a media star, but he is reliable, competitive and still developing. For a foreign club, he can be an affordable bet in an inflated market.
The final decision will depend on the offer, the player and Barça’s desired control. Casadó will not want to remain trapped in a secondary role next season. If Flick cannot guarantee minutes, listening to proposals becomes the most logical path.
An uncomfortable decision for Laporta
Joan Laporta knows selling La Masia players always creates debate among supporters. Casadó represents development, effort and a direct connection with Barça’s identity. But today’s Barça must compete, sign players and balance accounts at once.
Flick has drawn a clear line: he wants players fully integrated into his competitive idea. If Casadó does not enter that group, Deco must find the best exit. The club are not pushing him out for lack of quality, but for lack of space.
The summer could accelerate an operation that looked unlikely only a few months ago. The Premier League watches, Barça need margin and Casadó needs minutes to grow. The twist is clear: the jewel is not sold yet, but Flick has completely changed his future.
Caution note: At the time of writing, there is no official agreement between Barça, Marc Casadó and any interested club.
