Barça continue to move names for the left wing, and Jan Virgili is back in the picture. According to the latest information, the winger remains an option if Marcus Rashford does not continue, a scenario that now looks increasingly possible. Inside the club, he is not seen as the absolute priority, but as a cheaper and much more accessible route than other attacking operations.
The logic behind this move is easy to understand. Barça want to reinforce the left side, but Financial Fair Play still conditions every major decision. That is why, while more expensive names generate doubts, profiles like Virgili are gaining strength again in the offices.
Rashford’s future remains unresolved, and that forces the club to prepare alternatives. The Englishman scored against Getafe recently, but his continuity is still surrounded by uncertainty. In that context, Barça are already working on lower-cost options.
A young Catalan winger with LaLiga experience
Jan Virgili is 19 years old, was born in Vilassar de Mar, and plays mainly as a left winger despite being right-footed. He currently belongs to Mallorca, with a contract until 2030, after leaving Barça’s structure in 2025. His profile combines youth, verticality and familiarity with the club’s environment.
This season, Virgili has already played important minutes in LaLiga with Mallorca. His numbers are also interesting for his age, with 2 goals, 4 assists and more than 1,600 league minutes. That means he is not just an academy promise, but a player already tested at senior level.
That detail matters a lot for Barça. The club wants players with growth potential, but also with immediate competitive experience. Virgili fits that balance quite well.
Not the priority, but a real option
This explains why Virgili is currently placed on a second level of the list. He is not leading Deco’s planning, but he offers a much more realistic option in terms of cost and context. In a summer shaped by sales, salary control and strict spending limits, that type of profile becomes valuable very quickly.
If Rashford leaves, Barça will have to choose between a much more expensive name and a more reasonable route. That is where Jan Virgili quietly becomes a serious option.
He may not be the star signing right now, but his name is clearly back on the table. And if the market forces Barça to look for smart solutions, Virgili could be one of the most logical answers for the left wing.
