Barcelona are still moving in the market and already have two Chelsea names very well placed. One is João Pedro, who is liked a lot to strengthen Flick’s next attacking project. The other is Marc Cucurella, an old familiar face who would welcome a return to the club.
The sporting department know that Barça must get several key decisions right this summer. The attack needs more variety, and the defence also requires important adjustments to raise the level. That is why the club are studying profiles capable of improving the squad from day one.
In that scenario, Chelsea appear as a very interesting source of opportunities for Barcelona. Not because the operations are easy, but because both players fit what the club are looking for. They also respond to very specific needs inside the current squad.
João Pedro is liked for the attack
The case of João Pedro is gaining strength as a serious alternative for Barça’s attack. The Brazilian forward fits very well with what Hansi Flick wants from his ideal striker. He can play as a number nine, move wide or appear inside with real mobility.
He is not a classic centre-forward, but a much more dynamic and versatile attacker. That is something Barça value, because they want forwards capable of offering different offensive solutions. He can also help in the press and combine close to the opposition box.
His name has gained weight because other operations remain very complicated right now. The big dream is still Julián Álvarez, but his signing remains almost impossible because of the price. That is why Barça are already working on other routes, with João Pedro among the most attractive.
Cucurella remains a very tempting option
Alongside the Brazilian, Marc Cucurella is also back in the picture as a highly rated name internally. The full-back would see the operation as a return home and is open to coming back to Camp Nou. That detail matters a lot in a file where the emotional component also carries weight.
Inside the club, they know his profile, intensity and everything he can bring to the system. Cucurella is aggressive, energetic, competitive and very reliable in his defensive efforts without the ball. That is exactly why he is considered useful for the idea Flick wants to build.
His problem, once again, is the price, because his signing would not be cheap for Barcelona. The operation would require a high fee and likely a major defensive sale beforehand. That is why he is liked a lot, but remains a complicated route at this moment.
Chelsea condition two very different operations
Although both players belong to the same club, their operations have very different details right now. João Pedro appears more as a strategic attacking signing if the summer’s main target falls away. Cucurella, meanwhile, would depend much more on a powerful previous sale in defence.
Barça must decide very carefully where they place their biggest investment this summer. Financial Fair Play will again mark the timing and force the club to choose every step carefully. Even so, the interest in both players exists, and both names remain alive in the planning.
The conclusion inside the club is becoming quite clear with this double Chelsea route open. Barcelona are very interested in João Pedro and are also still watching Cucurella closely. Now the question is whether the market allows that interest to become two real operations.
