Marcus Rashford’s future has become one of the most delicate files in Barça’s market. The English attacker has responded on the pitch, but his continuity is still not guaranteed. Now, a new problem appears for Barcelona: Arsenal are already watching his situation very closely.
Inside the Catalan club, they value the player’s performances during this spell with the team. He has added goals, assists and moments where he has clearly made the difference in attack. But liking him a lot is one thing, and being able to sign him permanently is another.
The biggest obstacle is once again money, as almost always in Barça’s plans. The purchase option is around €30 million, a figure that may look manageable at first. However, salary margin and other summer priorities make the operation much more complicated.

Arteta wants him for the attack
That is where Arsenal enter the scene, already monitoring Rashford with serious interest. Mikel Arteta wants more depth, more imbalance and more goals for his attacking line. The English forward fits very well into the profile the Basque coach is looking for.
His experience in the Premier League clearly plays in the London club’s favour. He would not need adaptation, already knows the context and could perform quickly in a competitive project. That makes Arsenal a much more serious threat than it may initially seem.
At Old Trafford, the idea for resolving this case in summer is also quite clear. Manchester United prioritise a permanent sale and do not want another loan without guarantees. The English club need income and believe this is the ideal moment to sell.
Barça want time, but United push
At Camp Nou, gaining time would be the most comfortable option to keep the forward. A new loan would allow Barça to retain him without making a major immediate payment. But that scenario does not convince United, who do not want to drag the case out.
That is the major problem for Deco and also Hansi Flick this summer. The player is liked, has performed well and remains a valid sporting option. But Barça must decide whether he truly deserves priority investment right now.
Because if Barcelona hesitate too much, Arsenal could appear with much more force. They do not need to rush or enter a public battle for the player immediately. They only need to wait and see if Barça cannot, or will not, pay.
Rashford no longer depends only on Barça
The situation also forces Rashford himself to think carefully about his next step. In Barcelona, he has found continuity, focus and a favourable environment to compete. But returning to the Premier League with a strong project could also be very tempting.
Barça do not want to enter a long bidding war that makes them lose margin elsewhere. Their intention is still to control timing and avoid committing everything to one operation. But the market does not always wait, and Arsenal are ready to exploit any doubt.
The conclusion around the Barça environment is becoming quite clear with this scenario. Rashford has done enough to stay, but his future no longer depends only on Barcelona. If Arteta truly pushes, the Catalan club could lose a key signing.
Caution note: this situation is based on reported market interest and transfer planning, not an official agreement between Barcelona, Arsenal or Manchester United.
