Barcelona and Celta Vigo reached full agreement on a deal for Óscar Mingueza. The defender will move to the Galician club on a permanent transfer, according to multiple reports in Spain. According to rumors, Celta will pay 3 million euros, and Barça will receive a percentage of a future sale.
Xavi told Mingueza that he’s no longer in his plans for next season. Mingueza always preferred a move within La Liga if he was to leave the Catalan club. That despite having several offers from teams around Europe.
Celta reached out over the weekend with a solid offer for a player with only a year left on his deal. And now Mingueza gets his wish to stay in Spain while Barça receive some cash and more importantly get some salary relief as they race against the clock to register the new signings before the start of the season.
The move of Mingueza to Celta should be official during the weekend.
The defender started his journey in La Masia’s youngest team. He slowly went up until he reached Barcelona B. He was never an elite prospect, but somehow he made his debut for the first team 2 years ago. Moreover, he officially became a first team member last season.
