As we won on Saturday in our final game of the year & decade against Alavés, Real Madrid drew at home against A.Bilbao on Sunday. However, It’s no secret that all Spanish giant have failed to impress in the first half of the 19/20 season.
Atletico failed to make the top 3, Barça are leaders but without identity, R.Madrid could have takent the spot more than once but have failed so.
Yes,first. But at what price?
On one side, we scored many goals. The trio MSG alone have scored 30 goals by themselves, but at what price? The last games looked like saving games, where we didn’t give it our all on Saturday.
Saving for what? Until we get knocked out by Liverpool, Roma? On the top of the table, but at what price? Loss of style, defensively shaky, inconsistent as we are pathetic away from home.
As standards have always been high for the blaugranas, it’s impossible to be happy as a culé with what we are seeing. No culé will cheer 4-1 wins against Alavés when they dominated us for over 15′, which is unacceptable. No culé will cheer when you look at our current situation. Oh Barcelona, we surely believe in you, support you, cheer for you, but from how far have you fallen?
We need Barcelona back. The one with all fell in love with. The one that is that young, beatiful, prominent, proud team. Yet we are very far. There is hope, but things will have to change drastically and dramatically for the Catalans.
Leaders everywhere, but at what price?
It’s not secret was said before, that our attack is doing well. The Catalans have scored 47 goals in barely 18 matches, which gives us a 2.6 goals/game average, showing the attack is no problem for the Catalans.
However,if our attack prowess is great, the defensive prowess is way sloppier: We have 21 goals in 18 games, which averages to a bit more than 1 goal conceded/match. We have collected 39 points out of 54 possible, worryingly enough. 12 Wins, 3 draws and 3 losses tell it all. 3 of those draws are very recent, with the latest being in ‘El Clasico’ against Real Madrid at home and another one at the Anoeta against R.Sociedad. Losses include the first MD against Bilbao, Levante and newly promoted Granada. Note all these losses were away from home.
In the champions League, we have 14 out of 21 points, with 4 wins and 2 draws,as we had 2 goalless draws: One being against Dortmund in the Signal Iduna Park, while the second one was at home against 4th placed Slavia Praha. It is worrying, although it’s the group of death-As barely any wins were actually convincing.
We also have scored 9 goals in 6 games, averaging to 1.5 goals/game,which worryingly enough is way lower than in the League. Moreover, we have always conceded a goal except in those two uninspiring draws, which is truly worrying. We are scoring less but still conceding as much.
If these stats say that we’re first in both cases,it doesn’t mean the Blaugranas are happy, nor are the culés. For our style has often been forgotten in some clashes by manager Ernesto Valverde.
