Barcelona returns from Prague with a win, but they again fail to impress. Slavia deserved the win, and that’s sad. Here’s the thoughts of Rafael Hernández :
Well… This was awful. Three points and all, but Ter Stegen as the best on pitch on all three Champions League matches this season doesn’t inspire much confidence for the upcoming three, especially when two of them are against tough opposition.
Every time Dembélé comes on, the attack instantly gets quicker, sharper and better… until Suárez receives the ball and destroys the whole scoring opportunity. Valverde certainly fears the moment he subs Suarez off for Dembélé to have the Frenchman alongside Griezmann and Messi, is the moment the Uruguayan won’t start again.
Atrocious as ever by Suárez, he simply doesn’t have what it takes to play for a top tier club anymore, he’s done no matter if he scores a banger now and then, simple as that. I am grateful for his contributions for Barcelona, but this is it.
Valverde spent a year asking Barcelona to sign Griezmann, just to start him on the wing where he’s useless. It’s outrageous. What’s the point, Suárez plays by decree, why?
Piqué is still at Anfield, down in the ground. Awful start to the season, says a lot that the best match the team had defensively (Eibar) he wasn’t in the lineup.
Tactically, a mess. #ValverdeOut
Arthur best Barça player this season after Ter Stegen. He’s getting better by the day, much more dynamic and proactive compared to last season. Frenkie is consistently excellent but he’s not totally adapted yet.
Messi looked sharper, could’ve had a hattrick in his best days. Lenglet reliable again, Semedo was decent.
Improvements needed urgently…
