With the win against Getafe, Barcelona marked the first away win since April, and that’s a good thing. And also a Barcelona didn’t concede goals. However, Rafa Hernandez isn’t too impressed after the match.
Everything has to be done in the hardest and most nerve-wracking way for Barcelona. The best away performance of the season, which wasn’t much, just much better than anything the team had shown far from the Camp Nou.
The first half was awful, but things picked up in the second half with more intensity. Barça managed to hold onto the result and simply wait for full time as soon as Firpo scored the second goal.
Arthur and Frenkie were once again excellent. Two victories in a row in the league. Vital cogs for the team, even if the midfield didn’t work well out of tactical reasons, as the back line struggled with Getafe’s pressing. Fingers crossed that Valverde realized that Sergi Roberto and Rakitic are a guarantee of awful performances, both have to be far away from the starting eleven.
The problem is Valverde
Do not judge the new signings until Valverde is gone. Imagine changing countries or cities, joining a big club, arriving at this mess, with pressure to deliver right away and without Messi to save the team. Patience with Firpo, Griezmann and Frenkie. They’re all fine footballers.
Coutinho is playing well since he left Valverde. Food for thought…
Griezmann himself had a poor match again, but he continues to be played as a winger, lunacy. Sabotaged by the coach, surely, but he still works hard from start to finish, helping the team to defend as deep as dropping to Barça’s defensive line to press and tackle.
Ter Stegen was the best on pitch. Getafe scores one of their chances in the first half and Barcelona would’ve crawled to another defeat. If that wasn’t enough, he went and assisted Suárez for the first goal. Second most important player after Messi, it’s been the case for years.
Lenglet got needlessly sent off in the final ten minutes, and Todibo will have to play vs Sevilla next week. Things will continue to be difficult, especially without Messi…
#ValverdeOut – That won’t change until the end of the season, no matter the results.
