Jordi Alba until 2024 : It’s official!
After a long negotiation, it finally happened: Barca secured Jordi Alba until 2024. The renewal ceremony arrived today, and this is very good news for each and every one of us Barca fans. In addition, Alba spoke about some of the hot topics currently on the club’s agenda.
About his renewal, Alba said that he is very grateful to the club. After spending eight years in the youth reserves, now the journey of Jordi Alba will continue for five more years: until 2024. Alba said that Barca has always been his dream, even when he was at Valencia, Alba said that if an offer from Barca will arrive, he would like to come back. Therefore, signing for another five years is very rewarding for him.
In addition, Alba stated that he is now at the best moment of his career, when he almost turns 30. Our main LB said that he really wants to keep winning with Barca. According to Alba, he now takes more care of himself than before. In addition, the LB said he feels full in all aspects of his life: his family, his colleagues and coach.
Messi connection, goals and more
When asked about Messi, Jordi Alba said he hopes he will stay as long as he is at Barca. They have great understanding, and he wants Messi to keep playing with him for many more years.
About recent reports about a backup LB, Jordi said that he doesn’t care who will arrive. According to him, he knows that when he is in his level, he will play many games. Alba remembers he fought to reach the level required to be at Barca. Therefore, Alba feels important whether Barca will or will not sign another LB.
About the Champions League, Alba said that Barca has to play with the level they are giving this season. However, the club has to respect the opponent, especially after what happened with Real Madrid and Ajax, Man UTD and PSG, and of course Roma last season.
About his connection with the wingers, Alba said that he feels confident whether he plays with Coutinho, Dembele of Malcom. The whole squad is very good, but he has no preferred companion at the left wing for the game on Wednesday.
So, Barca will keep Jordi Alba until 2024, which is a very good move, as there is no left back better than him at the market. In addition, he is La Masia player, and that’s always a good thing to keep our homegrown players.
For the short term, Barca will probably sign a veteran left back on a free transfer as Alba’s backup. But, it seems like the club sees one Miranda and Cucu as long term options. If everything will work out, one of them will be Alba’s backup and maybe his successors when the time comes.
