Valverde failed to rotate – Sevilla 2-0 FC Barcelona
“Disappointing. Absolutely disappointing. We went into this game with hopes of getting the good positive result we wanted but as i mentioned earlier in my pre-match analysis post, Valverde lost the game of gamble to Machín and he failed to rotate correctly which was the main reason for our loss tonight”. A Post-Match analysis by @tikitaka.dna on Instagram.
The first half was better than the second half. We had more control, more accuracy, more possession and more chances. the catalan side went into the game with the 4-3-3 formation but soon they reversed the formation to a 3-4-2-1 with Prince playing as the front man & Aleña as the CAM.
The blaugrana also opted for 2-3 CB’s for when they were in possession and 4 while sevilla were attacking. For the Andalusian side however, they went into the game with the 3-1-4-2 formation.
Aleña played by the side line to fill in Messi’s position for the game but the player seemed confused with such task. Malcom had a chance to put us ahead of sevilla but his shot hit the side net.
The second half
The second half was maybe the worst second half of our season. Barca started with 4-3-3 again but this time with 2 CDM’s (Vidal & Rakitic) who were acting as pivots and with Aleña as the CAM. Machín had chosen to man mark Prince from the start of second half which made it hard for him to create goal scoring opportunities. The 4 man defense slept on Sarabia & Ben Yedder which lead to both putting their names on the score sheet. Sevilla had more possession than Barca which meant more threats on our goal. Overall, not a good game and Valverde & his rotation plan is to blame. The defense needs to step up and be alot more solid. Hoping for a “Remontada” in the second leg.
